Product description
Quarta Caffè - Argento coffee beans. Narrow alleyways wind their way through the city of Lecce in the south of Italy, and the old baroque buildings give the city its very special flair. Various cafés spread the smell of freshly roasted coffee beans through the streets. Quarta Caffè Argento is one of Lecce's traditional products. Its special style can be recognised in the blend of the coffee beans.
The southern temperament is characterised by the slightly smoky taste with the aromas of fine spices. The strong intensity of the South American Arabica and Robusta beans transports you to southern Italy with every sip. The Argento coffee blend is ideal for a delicious espresso and for preparation in a fully automatic coffee machine or portafilter machine.
For quick buyers of Quarta Caffè Argento coffee beans: - slightly smoky flavour - aroma of spices - strong intensity.
About Quarta Caffè
Quarta Caffè is a family business from Lecce in the Salento region, founded in the 1950s by Antonio Quarta Senior. From a small shop in the historic centre, where coffee was roasted and ice cream and lemonades were sold, one of Italy's ten largest roasteries grew over four generations. Grandfather Antonio invented the Caffè in Ghiaccio — hot espresso poured over ice, refined with Apulian almond milk — an iconic Salento drink that was officially recognised as a traditional food product (PAT) of the Puglia region in December 2025. The second generation under Gaetano Quarta created the famous Avio blend, named after the pilots of the nearby Galatina air base. Today, Antonio Quarta runs the roastery together with his sons Edoardo — a certified Q Grader for both Arabica and Robusta — and Gaetano.
Quarta Caffè roasts each bean variety separately to achieve optimal roasting parameters per origin, and deliberately avoids vacuum packaging: the coffee matures naturally in soft packaging with a freshness valve, preserving its aroma. The production facility in Lecce processes over 70,000 sacks of green coffee annually across 12,000 square metres and is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified. As part of the Progetto Natura, the plant has been generating its own electricity from wind and solar energy since the 1980s. The Nespresso-compatible capsules are 100% plant-based and compostable, dual-certified by TÜV Austria. At Espressa, we carry Quarta Caffè beans, ground coffee, ESE pods and compatible capsules.
